Global Food Crisis

There are a lot of crisis going on all around the world. Some of them we hear about all the time being reported and some of them we hardly hear about. Well, one of the important crisis that we should all be concerned about is the global food crisis. I think we should all know about this problem because it is under reported and it is a topic we should all be concerned about.

First of all, the main problem is the price raise all around the world. Prices shot up so rapidly, especially between the years 2007 – 2008 when there was a price surge that set the record, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization as posted in www.projectsensored.com and they also said in the article that in February, the UN’s food price index rose again for the eighth consecutive month. If this keeps up then the world hunger rate is going to go up as well making people unable to get food.  This means the people that aren’t getting food are also not getting the proper nutrition for survival and this is a problem.

According to another article on www.inthesetimes.com , the world needs a plan for preventing food crisis in the future. Some places are the ones who started the spike in food prices but there are also other factors that affect food production and cause crisis. One of the main things is global climate change. For example, if one area is supposed to be warm and it suddenly gets colder there or if a climate in one region is supposed to be cold and it starts getting cold, it affects the food production. A lot of people are affected by this crisis. According to the same article, in the past few decades something called “hydrological disasters” been increased to 7.4 percent and it affects many different areas for this crisis. It also talks about free trade and domestic deregulation.
